Spring is Here!

Thanks to the Historical Society of Carroll County for including a photo of one of my baskets in their newsletter.  If you need a basket be sure to check out my baskets at The Shop at Cockey's.  I have many styles to choose from.

High Country Weavers Guild

I spent an enjoyable Saturday leading a workshop for the High Country Weavers Guild of VA.



Participants were able to weave a footed yarn basket during the workshop.  The class was made up of  both experienced and beginning basket makers.

Double Wall Bowl Basket

The Central Pennsylvania Basket Weavers Guild assembled in February to weave a double wall bowl basket.  Member Debra Zvanut led the class.


Starting with a double slotted base, the inner basket was shaped as it was woven.  It acted as mold for the outer basket.  I used dyed purple reed to contrast the natural cream reed of the outside. 


A decorative band of  French Randed Arrows was woven using of four colors.

The top edge of the basket is woven together using a 3 piece double lash technique.
