Wooly Pines

Despite frigid temperatures outside, the Central Pennsylvania Basket Weavers Guild held their first gathering of 2018.  Taking a break from basket weaving, members each made a wooly pines tree.

Mary Annunziato and Jackie Burke from Wooly Pines (woolypines@comcast.net) led the workshop.  Everyone had a choice of wool colors and designs.  I selected a plaid of maroon and greens.

The wool was first torn into strips.  The strips were cut into a fringe.  The wool fringe was wrapped around wire to make individual branches.  Once all the branches were made they were attached to a center rod.

The finishing touches were to wrap the rod with a fabric strip, adjust the branches, and insert into a base.  Some people added tree toppers and small ball ornaments to complete their tree.

Everyone had a great time.  It was the perfect way to spend a cold Saturday.

Finished trees by CPWG members.
