Windows Globe Decorative Band

Have you ever found a color combo or basket technique that you get "stuck" on?  I seem to have fallen in love with the windows globe decorative band.  I have woven it in several baskets of late.  You can use any color combination but I have settled on turquoise and brown recently.

Below are three of my recent baskets in different styles that each use the windows globe band with turquoise and brown reed highlights and cream curls.

What's your favorite technique and color combos for 2018?

Wooly Pines

Despite frigid temperatures outside, the Central Pennsylvania Basket Weavers Guild held their first gathering of 2018.  Taking a break from basket weaving, members each made a wooly pines tree.

Mary Annunziato and Jackie Burke from Wooly Pines (woolypines@comcast.net) led the workshop.  Everyone had a choice of wool colors and designs.  I selected a plaid of maroon and greens.

The wool was first torn into strips.  The strips were cut into a fringe.  The wool fringe was wrapped around wire to make individual branches.  Once all the branches were made they were attached to a center rod.

The finishing touches were to wrap the rod with a fabric strip, adjust the branches, and insert into a base.  Some people added tree toppers and small ball ornaments to complete their tree.

Everyone had a great time.  It was the perfect way to spend a cold Saturday.

Finished trees by CPWG members.
